Our Phone Call Experience with Goldco Precious Metals

When we contacted Goldco Precious Metals by phone, we talked to an account executive who forwarded us to Mr Paul Sunderland, a knowledgeable man with over 40 years of expertise in the precious metals markets. To say the truth, the man was wonderful to talk to, and he answered all of our questions with clarity, transparency and expertise.

The discussion started with Mr Paul asking us a lot of questions, he said that he wanted to know as much as possible about our situation to provide the best help he could.

Here are more details from this call

Their minimum investment is $25,000 for an IRA

Nothing…

They will actually change you to a new custodian who will be in charge of your account. Literally what you’re doing is moving from one 401k to what is called a self directed IRA . And there is no penalty on that

290 dollars, and that would include your first year storage and metals insurance as well.
The ongoing cost for maintaining your account is 175 dollars a year

It’s absolutely a Flat Fee and there are no hidden charges, and that pretty covers the admin and storage fees

They use Delaware Depository, one of the most secure and private vaults in the world.
Gold is stored separately, while silver tends to be put together in one place.
However, by law they have to send you exactly what you purchased. He went further to explain that if three people purchased exactly the same thing, it doesn’t matter who gets what.
The issue is that it got to be identical in every possible way

Absolutely, you can track your metals online 24/7

“This is what separates us from other contenders.”Said Mr Paul.
First of all, we take a consultative approach to metals which is unlike any other competition.
We get the approach of knowing you extremely well before we make any recommendation.
When you come onboard and open your account, you would have two accountants appointed to your account not just one, so that you would have access to those people at any time you want. They have to call you at least once every month to keep you updated and they won’t bombard you with many phone calls or emails

Company Pros

  • A great online reputation which grants their credibility and reliability

  • They deal with your chosen custodian directly which avoids you the complications of contacting and dealing with one of your choice

  • They have a Flat IRA admin and storage fee of 175 a year, which allows you to add more metals to your account without any other charges in the future

  • They offer segregated Gold Storage at Delaware depository, which guarantees that your bullion bars and coins are not commingled with others’ possessions

  • Their customer service is great and you can also expect professional ongoing support

Company Cons

  • IRA Setup Fees of 290 covering the first year storage dues. This is a big amount of money just for setting up an IRA, though it covers other expenses, but there are other companies which I reviewed and which offer a Free IRA setup to your convenience
  • Minimum investment amount of 25.000, which is way too much for many starters

  • They use Equity Institutional as one of their IRA custodians,a company which has a solid amount of dissatisfied clients, and a bad reputation online

The Bottom Line

We have done an extensive research on G.P.M and tried to make this review as unbiased as possible, our final judgement is that this is by far a great company to deal with, their account managers answered all of our questions in a professional manor, and we see nothing negative about the company except their set up fee which is a bit expensive compared to other brokers, we also don’t like the fact that they’re using Equity Institutional as one of their IRA custodians,a company with red flags. In the mean time, we recommend you browse other companies we have reviewed and compare them on your own options to see which one best meets your criteria.
